Where can I get a tame silver fox?
Q. I'm not talking about the wild ones, please read all the text before post anything! A russian experiment created a fox as domesticated as your dog (the same way that dogs are domesticated wolves) The Tame Silver Fox is the result of nearly 50 years of experiments in the Soviet Union and Russia to domesticate the silver morph of the Red Fox. Notably, the foxes not only become more tame, but more dog-like as well: the new foxes lost their distinctive musky "fox smell", became more friendly with humans, put their ears down (like dogs), wagged their tails when happy and began to vocalize and bark like domesticated dogs. The breeding project was set up by the Soviet scientist Dmitri Belyaev. The e-mail of the russians that still run the… [cont.]

A. "the animals seem to have left Russia only once, for Finland, in a colony that no longer survives." It seems that only in Russia you will have a small chance to get one... good luck.

Where can I find/ purchase a tamed silver fox? What would the price range be?
Q. My online searching has been inadequate so I'm hoping for more useful info from someone who knows better than google. Any general info on silver fox ownership would help. Thanks

A. Most 'pet' foxes come from fur farm breeders. They'd charge the price of the pelt that the fox would normally bring them. Do a google search on fox fur farms for your state Here's the normal fur producing states But others have them too, even if they're not listed. Your yellow pages phone book may have something listed. Or you can keep doing a search online, OR contact your county's agricultural agent (phone book, government pages in the White Pages).

Where to buy / Trying to Find Tame Silver Foxes.?
Q. I am looking for the Domesticated Silver fox, As seen in THIS article. Yes, Foxes can be tamed. Fennec Foxes are another example of tame Foxes. I am an experienced pet owner, but I cannot locate a seller for the Tame Silver Foxes. I am fully prepared to fly to Russia to pick one up if that is what is needed. Though I would much prefer a seller that spoke English due to the obvious hurdle of a language barrier. A quick update, I haven't found them yet, but I have contacted the reseachers of the documentaries on said animals, but I have yet to recieve a response. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

A. How about this idea? Foxes are WILD animals meant to be in the wild NOT in your living room. Forget this stupid idea & find another way to feed your ego.

I have become the proud caretaker (I think) of a silver fox???
Q. Can anyone help me with this. She is 14oz, weened and totally tame. Is she a fox? She looks just like a fox baby, has a gutteral "purr" when shes playing, and "cries" with a meow like a cat when she wants me. I thought a wild animal had an inate fear of humans. She does not...Her claws are not retractable..canine? She has a slightly herniated umbilicle area...age? Eats meat, and wants nothing to do with milk replacer. Likes her tight dark area when sleeping...den. Looks exactly like a fox in the face and have been told probably a silver fox. She has black legs, black tipped ears and a white tip on her tail. I am a petite woman and wear an extra small glove...her little feet are the size of the tip of my pinkey. Once again the domestic… [cont.]

A. I didnt see the pic.. but from the description... yes.. I also have one.. she was found in the ditch... they do become quite tame... but when maturity hits.. they want their freedom.. and yes its illegal IF you keep her... you need to contact a rehabber in your area.. Its best if she is raised w/ another.. Wish u were in oklahoma! again, you will not get in trouble for caring for her.. until you find a rehabber. do a google search.. for wildlife rehabilitator.. there are several links.

Can I tame this wild gray hair?
Q. I've noticed a gray hair here and there over the past 3 years. I am 21 yrs old now. Over the past six months the amount of gray hair on my head has easily quadrupled and is uncontrollable! The hairs are silver, much thicker than my other hairs, and kinky like fishing line that has been knotted. Depending on my hair style they will often stick out on end! My hair is dark brown/black with sporadic red hairs and is curly. I have no information of my genetic heritage but people often identify me as being of Arabic or Hispanic descent. My hair is in excellent condition and I use heat styling only once or twice a week. This gray hair is out of control! Does anyone know how I can tame the hair? The texture bothers me more than the color but… [cont.]

A. I used to be like you describe. If it is just a few hairs that you notice with a certain hairstyle then don't be afraid to pull them out. It's no big deal & doesn't actually cause them to grow back in doubles like you may have heard. Maybe you'll want to think about dyeing your hair to hide the greys. If you do, just remember to keep it close to your natural color or be prepared to color it once a month. I cut my hair short & let the color grow out recently & found that mine is nearly 1/2 grey. Then I dyes it again because I didn't like my boyfriend's hair being darker & less grey than mine.

Multi question animal question.?
Q. Ok,what states are Silver Foxes[tame red foxes]alowed in?If your allergic to dogs or/and cats, will you be allergic to wild cats and/or dogs? Also,is there a hypoallergenic cat?Are the allergca ones reliable?

A. I don't think you are really allowed to raise any wild fox breeds without a special permit making you say a zoo of some sort. You would most likely be alergic to them as well as it is the hair/dander that causes it mostly. However there is a cat breed that does not have the same hair dander problems that regular cats do. I saw a show on them. There is a sphynx variety that has almost no hair and works for people with allergies.

Is this story any good I've started on?
Q. The sky darkened until it was just a fine dark gray mist. A silver cat s claw shone as the moon in the gray fogged sky, the sounds of day fluttered into silence. All that was heard was the occasional hoot of a great-horned owl, or the crunching of leaves as foxes seek their sleeping prey. A rogue cat prowled the darkness, seeking a meal. The sharpness of his ribs was clearly visible underneath his ragged, matted pelt. The rogue s eyes were bloodthirsty and hungry, for anything even if it led him to complete and utter cannibalism. The rogue tensed his weak muscles and sprung at a chipmunk, which quickly receded back to its hole. The rogue went hungry another night. Too weak to find shelter, the rogue dropped where he was, tired, cold and… [cont.]

A. I like it that you could carry on the paragraphs for such a long time! I also like that when you try to make your paragraphs long they aren't droning because the author just wants to make their novel longer through pointless little sentences. You need a bit of improvement on your punctuation in the lists of adjectives before your nouns; i.e: The sky darkened until it was just a fine(,) dark gray mist. A silver cat s claw shone as the moon in the gray(,) fogged sky, the sounds of day fluttered into silence. Also, I noticed that you separate your carry-on sentences with a comma. You should use ";" instead; i.e: A silver cat s claw shone as the moon in the gray fogged sky,(delete comma)(;) the sounds of day fluttered into silence. A… [cont.]
