A. Get a hedgehog. I've had them, and they are wonderful creatures. Mine would play tug of war with me, and eat food from my hand, even swim in the bathtub. They are funny little things and a lot of fun. He lived for about 10 years. :)

Exotic pet.....?
Q. I am thinking about getting a new type of pet. I have narrowed it down to a chinchilla, short tailed opposum, and a hedge hog. We already have 6 snakes, a ferret, fish, 3 boston terriers, and an olde english bulldogge. We have an empty 55 gal tank and are wanting to buy something to go in it. We LOVE our animals, so it would have a great home. I also thought about a bunny, but I think they are hard to clean after. Thanks!

A. none of those three animals belong in a tank. they need a cage. it would be real cruel to put them in a fish tank. when i was young i had guinea pigs in a tank that size but all experts agree animals like that need a cage.

What is a good exotic pet that is legal in California for a child?
Q. My cousin loves exotic pets and wants one for her birthday. She wants a low-mantainence and not very expensive pet. We live in California and we need it to be legal there. Oh yes, she is 9 years old

A. Unfortunately, Sugar gliders, ferrets and hedgehogs are illegal in California. :( You CAN get a Chinchilla! They are pretty low maintenance, but they tend to bite if you get them storebought. I had one. He lived for about four, five years.

Do you need a exotic pet permit to own and have an axolotl in Pennsylvania?
Q. I really want one, My two roommates and I have enough to afford the axolotl cage and all necessary items to keep it healthy and happy, we even have a named picked out. But we need to know if we need a permit, because that we might not be able to afford. So my questions are; Do we need a permit for having and owning an axolotl? and if so; how much will it cost to obtain an exotic pet permit?
Asked by gomes.margo - Tue Sep 15 22:14:14 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I am not sure of this, but I do believe that owning exotic and wild animals should not be allowed without state and USDA licensing. Did you know axolotl's are almost extinct? This animal is not domesticated, and unless you have had your equipment checked out by an exotic veterinarian or two to ensure that this animal would be "happy" in your possession, then I would suggest not purchasing this pet.

A. I have 3 ferrets I just rescued 2 that were in really bad condition. They are on the road to recovery. They are great pets and love you unconditionally. They are like a mix of a dog and a cat. Independent but loving and ready for affection. I couldn't live without them. They usually run about $150 but you can get them from the newspaper ads for cheaper or even ferret rescue groups. People say they smell bad but I guess it depends if they are neutered or spayed and how people take care of them. Which states allow people to have an exotic pet?
Q. Which Exact states allow people to have an exotic pet, and could someone please list them, and could you also tell me some good exotic pet dealers. Thanks! which state will allow people to have an exotic pet, and sould some one please list all the states that do and don't allow you to. thank you!
Asked by Matthew - Tue May 12 12:15:07 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It varies by state, county, and even township. And of course, by animal. They may be legal but require special permits or licenses. Once you have a specific type of animal in mind, contact your County rep, or go to town hall to get all the ordinances. Before you get your new exotic pet, PLEASE make sure there is a local vet willing to treat that type of animal. Many vets will not see exotics, or will charge a very high fee just to walk in the door.

A. There are several vet clinics listed on Hedgehog Central that deal with hedgehogs and other exotics. Since you have the option, I would visit several and see which one you feel most comfortable dealing with, rather than picking one and later being disappointed. Good luck!

Ideally you should get 2 chinchillas as they will get lonely and depressed on their own. They cost between 80 to 150 each You will need a LARGE cage with lots of shelfs and height is more important than width. As chinchillas like to run and jump they need the room to do so. The cages cost about 80. You will also need to buy the following: Dust bath - 10 Dust 3 (which will last about 3 weeks) House - 10 Litter - 9 (a large bag will last 2 months) Wood to knaw on or they will develop teeth problems that can kill them Toys to occupy them. that will be destroyed and need replacing on a monthly basis. [Warcraft] Can a Marksman Hunter change classes to get an exotic pet?
Q. Okay I am a Marksman in World of Warcraft, and I know you can change your talent tree with your trainer. So what I was wondering is if I could change my Marksman to BeastMaster and get the Exotic pet, then level up the tree than change back to Marksman. So after I change back would I still be able to keep the pet?
Asked by As - Fri Jun 12 11:02:59 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You need at least 51 points in the BM tree to be able to train exotic pets, and as stated above, if you respec your exotic pets will be stabled and won't be useable. In fact you'd have to respect to BM again to be able to abandon the pet as you can't get them out of the stable as MM spec'd hunter. If you want to try playing with an exotic pet you could dual spec as BM.

If you want one, move to where they are legal. 671. Importation, Transportation and Possession of Live Restricted Animals. A. Well, I have 2 Russian Tortoises, they are special to me because not many people own them and they live to be 80 years old. Also 1 of them is 20 years old! That's older than Me! I also have a Goffin Cockatoo named Elvis. He is special because in the wild, they are virtually extinct. The only ones still alive are those bred in captivity. To have an extinct animal reminds me everyday of what I'm fighting for. Here's a pic of Elvis:
